Day Program Services
The day hospital consists of a welcoming reception area, large modern group rooms, a dining room complete with landscaped outdoor sitting area and a kitchen to enable patients to help themselves to a soothing cuppa!
This service aims to assist people in their transition from hospital to home and assist people to remain in the community. With an increase in space and the number of group rooms we are now able to offer a greater range of psychological and psychosocial therapies and interventions, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Activities Based programs. Evening programs have also started for patients with employment and/or family commitments on a regular basis.
Patients participate in programs depending on their needs as assessed by the treating psychiatrist and clinical team. A continuous review of programs is undertaken with new programs being developed to meet the diverse needs of the community. Examples of program components available include:
Day Programs can assist patients with the transition period immediately following an inpatient admission.
Programs are facilitated by qualified multidisciplinary mental health professionals.

- Community education - involvement and networking
- Dual Diagnosis - the relationship between mental health and substance misuse.
- Maintaining healthy relationships, impulsive/addictive behaviours i.e internet, computers, gambling
- Bi-Polar disorder group
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - for anxiety or depression
- Acceptance and Commitment group
- Family and Carer's program
- Mindfulness based programs - weekdays and weekends
- Wellness groups
- Group Singing

Creative Arts Therapy
- We use a multimodal process of creating works/images to explore emotional expression. Connectivity with inner resources in the process can be healing and life affirming
Activity Based Programs
- Yoga and Tai Chi
- Relaxation and Meditation / Mindfulness practice
- Gym and swimming
- Strength Training

- Provides a safe place to share you lived experience, worries, concerns, emotional pain and confusion
To receive support and provide a space to:-

- Develop independent thinking whilst in a group
- To know that you are not alone
- Acceptance/empathy
- To tolerate difference whilst in a group
- To take risks in developing new healthy behaviours
- To challenge unhelpful attitudes, behaviours and emotions that have interfered with building a more satisfying life and relationships
- Learning from experience
Importantly, group provides an opportunity to learn from others, as people discuss not only their difficulties but the ways they have effectively used skills to overcome the obstacles - regular attendance assists with long term recovery.
Groups can differ in what they offer - knowledge, skill practice support, develop self - awareness in the way they relate to people and problems in their life.

Participation in Delmont Day Programs must be via referral from a Delmont accredited psychiatrist. Referrals can be obtained from your general practitioner.
General Information
Day Programs
- Provide ongoing support to assist with continued recovery opportunities, enhances functioning and facilitates personal growth and development.
- Shared care continues with the day program clinical team and treating psychiatrist
- Appropriate programs/groups will be determined by the entry assessment
- Private Health Insurance is highly recommended
- Some groups are closed, time limited
